Join us for the first workshop in our new OT Cadets Course!

This 6 hour course is perfect for new Occupational Therapists starting in the field, or for those who want a refresher.

Mechanical Assessment Tool (MAT) is a musculoskeletal examination that's an important component of prescribing seating for a wheelchair. A MAT Evaluation provides a way to assess and capture relevant information relating to a client's posture, movement, muscle tone and alignment and clarifies the most appropriate seating solution for your client.

This seminar is designed to provide new graduate Occupational Therapists, and anyone involved in seating and wheelchair assessment with the concepts and tools to conduct a thorough MAT evaluation. If you have a client and are unsure where to start when commencing a seating assessment, then this course is a must.

This seminar helps you understand and apply principles and biomechanics as applied to seating posture and provides skills training and the practical tips and tricks to make you much more comfortable conducting a MAT evaluation and prescribing the right seating solution for your client.

This seminar will also help you to develop problem solving skills based on real case scenarios, develop clinical justification skills to write a successful application for funding and integrate knowledge learnt into product set up and clinical practice.

This is a fantastic opportunity to build up your confidence by learning from an educator with years of clinical experience and to network with peers new to Occupational Therapy.

This seminar will assist you with:

•    Hands-on skills training for MAT assessment
•    Translation of the assessment findings into practical trial equipment selection
•    Achieve positive clinical objective outcomes.
•    Confidence in assessment skills, clinical reasoning and decision making.
•    Confidence in justifications for report writing
