How to accurately weigh infants in a baby scale

Our scales are built for accuracy and sourced from some of the world’s most trusted manufacturers — however, there are a few techniques you will need to use to ensure you measure correctly. Here’s a quick rundown:

1. To collect the baby’s bare weight, make sure they are undressed and their nappy has been removed.
    
2. Place a sheet or a paper towel on the weighing scale.
    
3. Turn on the scales and wait until they say zero.
    
4. Place the baby in the centre of the scale and make sure their weight is evenly distributed.
    
5. Wait until the scales settle and record the baby’s weight to the nearest five grams.
    
6. Plot the measurement on the relevant weight-for-age chart and enter it into the baby’s medical record. If you’re able to, measure the baby’s length at the same time and enter it into the baby’s medical record.

Please note that weighing newborn babies should be completed by a medical professional. For the most part, baby scales are used by doctors, nurses and midwives.
