Overview
Minister Advance Clinical Lift Chair
Advanced Positioning for Postural Support, Pressure Redistribution and Everyday Comfort
The Minister Advance is a five-motor clinical lift chair designed to provide flexible, individualised positioning for people who may benefit from changing their seated posture throughout the day.
With multiple independent adjustment options, the Minister Advance allows the chair to be configured around the user's positioning, comfort and functional needs.
Five-Motor Independent Positioning
The Minister Advance provides independent adjustment of:
- Tilt-in-Space
- Backrest recline
- Leg elevation
- Headrest position
- Lumbar support
Unlike lift chairs where the leg rest and backrest move together, the Minister Advance allows the leg rest to be adjusted independently while the chair is tilted or reclined.
This provides greater flexibility for the user and prescribing clinician to explore positions that support posture, pressure redistribution, lower-limb positioning, comfort and individual functional goals.
Designed Around the Individual
The Minister Advance is available in Petite, Standard and Large configurations to accommodate different body dimensions and positioning requirements.
Appropriate chair size, seat dimensions, backrest configuration, leg-rest support and programmed positions should be considered as part of an individual assessment to determine the most suitable configuration.
User-Centred Features
For added comfort, convenience and ease of use, the Minister Advance includes:
- Large-button handset for simplified operation
- Seat heating for additional warmth and comfort
- Eight-area massage with two intensity settings
- Adjustable headrest and lumbar support
- Adaptable backrest cushion
- USB and USB-C charging
- Handset hooks and storage pockets on both sides
Independent Leg-Rest Adjustment
A key feature of the Minister Advance is its independently powered leg rest, allowing the position of the lower limbs to be changed without automatically altering the selected backrest or tilt position.
This additional flexibility may be useful when considering:
- Different knee and leg-rest angles for individual comfort
- Lower-limb support without changing the backrest angle
- Progressive position changes during extended periods of sitting
- Positioning around individual range of movement and postural presentation
- Supported rest positions configured around personal needs
Understanding Tilt-in-Space
Tilt-in-Space changes the orientation of the seating system while maintaining the seat-to-back angle.
The Minister Advance provides up to 15° of Tilt-in-Space, giving users and prescribing clinicians another option when establishing an appropriate seated position.
Potential Benefits of Tilt
Postural Support
Maintaining the seat-to-back angle while changing the chair's orientation can support an individual's positioning and provide an alternative posture throughout the day.
Pressure Redistribution
Tilt can assist with changing how a person's weight is distributed across the seating surfaces.
Position Changes & Sitting Tolerance
Providing the ability to move between different supported positions can contribute to comfort and sitting tolerance for appropriate users.
Lower-Limb Positioning
When used together with independent leg elevation, tilt provides additional flexibility when establishing supported positions for the lower limbs.
Understanding Recline
Recline increases the angle between the seat and the backrest, allowing users to move between more upright and reclined positions.
For appropriate users, recline can contribute to:
- Position changes throughout the day
- Individualised postural positioning
- Comfort and supported rest
- Sitting tolerance
- Access to alternative seated positions
Using Tilt and Recline Together
Tilt and recline can be used together to provide greater positioning flexibility. As recline changes the seat-to-back angle, its impact on an individual's position and movement within the chair should be considered as part of the clinical assessment. The appropriate sequence, angle and combination of seating functions should be determined according to the individual's presentation and goals.
Individual Assessment Is Essential
The Minister Advance offers a wide range of positioning possibilities, but no single position or combination of functions is appropriate for every person.
Chair size, seat dimensions, postural presentation, range of movement, pressure care requirements, lower-limb support, functional goals and overall comfort should all be considered during assessment.
Where the chair is being prescribed to address specific clinical needs, configuration and positioning should be determined by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
